Miojo – Thats instant noodles…

…for you lámen!….I mean, laymen.

The Basics (as I’m sure most people know)

Instant noodles are dried or precooked noodles fused with oil, and often sold with a packet of flavoring. Dried noodles are usually eaten after being cooked or soaked in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes, while precooked noodles can be reheated, or eaten straight from the packet. Although similar products were available in dynastic China, modern instant noodles were invented by Chinese-Taiwanese-Japanese Momofuku Andō of Nissin Foods.

In Brazil

For a long time the main manufacturer was Nissin Miojo (to an extent that, in Brazil, the most common name for instant noodles is “miojo”, although the manufacturers usually call them “lámen” or “l’amen”), but a lot of other companies, such as Maggi and Nestlé also offer this product. There is a lot of variants, such as “Lámen Cremoso” (which has a creamy sauce) and “Lámen Hot” (with pepper), as well as yakisoba and spaghetti.

Noodles in Brazil are generally called macarrão. On the cover of the package below is a famous celebrity in Brazil, Daniela Cicareli, who most know from her marriage to Ronaldo the soccer player.

  1. The funny thing about this picture, though, are the comments.
First there is the fact that CICA is both a food brand and short for Cicarelli. Then there is the sex in the ocean scandal in which she was involved a while back. Then you need to know that “galinha” (portuguese for chicken) is a slang word for slut. Finally, the brilliant sentence “É só esquentar na água e comer” which literally means “Just heat up in the water and eat” but “heat up” can also mean to be sexually aroused, and “comer” is a sort of low slang term that means to have sex with, but the men is the one who “eats,” so she would be eaten… I don’t know if this explanation made much sense, and you probably already knew that, but just felt the urge to clarify a little.

First you have to know she had sex with her boyfriend in the ocean.
and “galinha” in portuguese is a slang term for whore.

    • ahhh, I should have paid more attention to that. This image must then be a joke. I thought it was weird that she was on the cover of the noodle package. rs. But yes, I knew all of that. Good to have it here for the rest of the readers though. Valeu
